
Have you ever said something aloud, only for the person you’re with to exclaim, “I was just thinking the same thing!”? Or maybe while walking down the street, you sense someone’s energy — immediately feeling they have either “good” or “bad” vibes. In that moment, you choose whether to cross the road or offer a smile and say good morning.
Perhaps there’s a person at work, the gym, or anywhere you frequent, whose presence makes you uncomfortable. They give off negative energy, or you simply get a “creep vibe” from them. Similarly, we often walk into a room and immediately sense our partner’s bad mood without a word being spoken. Every day, we naturally pick up on others’ emotions — whether they’re happy, sad, angry, or neutral. This happens because we’re constantly, and often unconsciously, reading each other’s energy.
We Are Energy
Human beings are made of energy, and our energetic field extends beyond our physical body. When you get those gut feelings about someone, it’s your energy reading theirs. These intuitive reactions are real and valid.
As we move through life, we not only sense others’ energy, but we also unconsciously allow it into our own space. This can lead to feelings of anxiety, ruminating thoughts, heightened emotions, or being easily triggered. Many of us go through our daily routines unaware that foreign energy is affecting us.
Owning Your Energy Space
By developing a conscious practice of grounding, clearing foreign energy, and maintaining a translucent energetic boundary, we elevate our awareness. This helps us reclaim our thoughts, energy, and space. As Taylor Swift says in her song Lover, “This is our place, we make the rules.” So, are you calling the shots in your own energetic space?
By regularly practicing grounding, energy clearing, and self-awareness, we gain control over our energy. We become more aware of thoughts that aren’t our own and learn to release foreign energy with ease. With practice and consistency, we can maintain clarity in our energy, thoughts, and inner wisdom, allowing us to navigate each day with more confidence.
